Date: Friday March 6th Venue: O’Neill’s, St Mary’s Street Cardiff Admission: £5.00 (tickets on the door)
This is a very special gig that has been organised by a group of Railway Staff. All the bands playing include members of Railway staff. Our bass player, Andy works for First Great Western in Bristol as a driver trainer.
The proceeds will go to the children’s cancer charity CLIC.
As you can see from the line-up below there are a lot of bands playing and our slot is relatively early. We think this will be a fantastic night with some great music. Hope to see you there.

The Tim Crahart Blues Band’s first gigs were back in 2010. We’ve never been the busiest band in the world, but we’ve always loved doing what we do, so here’s the news – we’re going to keep doing it!
In the last five years we’ve released three full-length albums and a free Christmas single (which in true Slade-like style we have re-issued every year since!). All are available through Amazon, iTunes, Bandcamp and other sites. (If you want to get actual CDs it has to be via andylong.bandcamp.com.
We’ve played lots of gigs in lots of different settings; festival slots at Greenbelt and local festivals, support slots for Larry Miller, regular pub slots at the Boat in Penallt and Fagin’s in Taffs Well, church gigs, charity gigs and even breakfast gigs at a golf club and the occasional wedding.
We’ve built a great set of Tim’s original material, mixed with classic gospel blues revisited in electric blues-explosion style and a smattering of covers (Stevie Wonder, Elvis Presley, The Blues Brothers, Chuck Berry, etc).
2015 sees us already putting together material for a fourth album, we’ve got some great new songs to play for you.
So we’re looking forward to getting out there and meeting some of you guys at any of our gigs coming up this year. As always, if you turn up Andy promises to buy you a pint!
Which is where you come in…
You see, the truth is we’re a bit rubbish at promoting ourselves and finding new gigs. So we’re throwing it open to you chaps. Do you run a potential venue? Do you know of somewhere we could play in your area? Can we play at your church? Can we help you out at your charity event?
We are looking for opportunities that are fairly local to our home town of Newport, we usually don’t travel more than an hour away from home, but for a festival or good support slot we could go further afield.
Fees, by the way, should not be a problem. We take what we are offered, within reason. So get in touch if you can offer us anything or have any ideas for possible venues we could contact. The diary is pretty clear.
New Tim Crahart Blues Band album launched at Bandcamp today
The new release from the Tim Crahart Blues Band is here at last! We are launching the album today via the Bandcamp website. It’s available in CD format and in high quality download in the format of your choice. In fact if you order the CD you automatically get the download too.
The price of the album is £5. We really hope that you enjoy this album, please pass this newsletter on to any friends that you think might be interested.
Here are Tim’s liner notes, to give you a taste of what to expect:
Some songs you write; some songs you’re given. ‘Blues Like a Prayer’ is a song that came to me at a time when I needed a miracle and I feel it was a gift from God. The lyrics and melody came first and only afterwards did I realise I’d written a song in waltz time with a minor V chord in the chorus – very unlike me. As soon as it was finished I knew it would be the title track. I also knew it would be fantastic to have a Gospel choir singing on it and, thanks to our friends at God’s House International Centre in Bristol, that became a reality.
As with the first two CDs, this is once again a mixture of originals and re-packaged traditional Gospel Blues songs. We have ‘Jesus on the Mainline’, Blind Willie Johnson’s ‘Soul of a Man’ and ‘Motherless Children’ and a mash-up of Rev Gary Davis’ ‘Great Change’ and ‘Steppin’ Out’, as famously covered by Eric Clapton & John Mayall on the Beano album.
The originals include ‘God Meant it For Good’ a retelling of the story of Joseph complete with a Wah-Wah drenched riff, and the swinging ‘Good Woman Blues’ with lyrics from Andy, by way of Proverbs 31. ‘When You Fall’ and ‘Squeaky Clean’ were two songs I’d written some time ago and forgotten about. Fortunately, I rediscovered them in time to make it onto the CD. Finally, the Gary Moore influenced ‘Lady Gets the Blues’ is for Deb, my wife and my inspiration. ENJOY!
At last I’ve managed to set up some sort of mailing list for the band!
Please subscribe so that we can stay in touch. We promise not to spam you ten times a day, but we might drop you a line if we’ve got some gigs coming up, or to tell you about our wonderful new album ‘Blues Like A Prayer’ and other interesting stuff like that.
You can find a link to the mailing list subscription form on the ‘Contacts’ page, here on the band site. Or you can just click this link.
Christmas is fast approaching so we are relaunching our Christmas single from last year.
Last year we gave it away as a free download and this year, guess what, it’s FREE! (it’s always been free, but downloads tended to drop off during the summer!
The song, ‘Christmas Day’, is an original track, written by Tim on 2o12. We recorded it at Red Rock Studios in the South Wales Valleys and had great fun. Tim and Harvey’s kids got involved too and we threw some bells at it too.
Please do grab yourself a download and if you can share this post with your friends, maybe they’ll download it too. We’re not trying to compete with X-Factor or AC/DC, we just want to share what we think is a great song, hope you love it!
